The staff is very friendly and will assist you in any way. Some staff are quite fluent in English. But, bring your own map! This hotel will charge you 10 yuans for a map of Beijing. I am sorry, but in all of my world travels, a simple, but cheap city map was always a courtesy in my experience. It is not the price. It was just insulting to me as a "visitor." The bed is comfortable, and the air-conditioning works well. You will need it during this hot summer.
The hotel is located in a very poor neighborhood, even by Chinese standards. It would not be suggested that a foreigner eat in the local hotel area. One must step out of that area, and walk to the major street of Wuanwumen, where the Beijing subway station can be found. I found a Korean restaurant on the west side of Nanxinhua street, close to Wuanwumen street. However, there are safe places to eat on Nanxinhua street, closer to the hotel. I hope that you like the smell of cigarettes. There is nothing the staff can do to prevent the smell from entering your room from the hallway or the adjacent rooms. I found it very difficult to sleep with the entire room filled with that smell. At first, I thought that it was the smell of a wet, dirty and over-used mop! I am sorry to say that it is a strong possibility from my observations of their cleaning of the hotel. Finally, when you arrive to your room, please check the toilet and shower. The toilet would not flush! What a mess and how embarrassing! In addition, the shower drain would not function. The shower waste water accumulated into a large pool. They had to make repairs twice.

Nice staff, enough English, nice place. Liked the Hutong deal. never did that before, it was cool. Pretty ok tour operator in the hotel took us to the Great Wall, no troubles. then the Forbiden City and Tienanmen Square were walking distance. Cool.
Little far from the train station, but then we only rode the train from and to the airport.

This is a basic hotel at a basic price point. Ammenities are simple but all you really need considering you will be out enjoying Beijing city. The hotel is somewhat difficult to find. I suggest taking a taxi from Qianmen subway station, or Hepingmen. It is located down a hutong alley and hard to find, but there are many people on the pedestrian road to help. We stayed for 3 nights and everything was clean and quiet. The neighbourhood is very interesting with lots of little shops along the hutong road.
Location is initially difficult to find. Slightly farther from the subway than I was hoping but really not that bad...

The room was much nicer than I expected and the hotel staff kept it very clean (daily). Also very good price for the room (twin). The area was very quiet and away from the big streets. I especially liked the location between the hutongs and the distance to the main tourism attractions was very short. Staff was also nice and spoke exceptionally good english.
A little too far from the metro station. No computers available to use when not carrying a laptop yourself (although found one in the cafeteria across the street).
Tourists from United States of America often stay at these properties. Consider them for your next trip.
